Boat Tours from Secret Beach: The Captains We Book

Snorkelling, fishing and catamaran days on Ambergris Caye, from the captains our guests go back out with, and what they charged this year.

Most days on Ambergris Caye end up on a boat. These are the captains Everaldo and Delma book for our guests, the ones guests rebook, and the prices they quoted in 2026. Every trip our team arranges is private to your group, and most captains will pick you up at the villa’s dock.

Before you book Message Everaldo and Delma on WhatsApp and they will arrange any of these, or contact the captain directly. We don’t charge anything extra for organising a tour. Rates are set by each operator, and you pay the operator directly. Prices are in US dollars and change with group size, fuel and season, so confirm when you book. The Hol Chan Marine Reserve fee is $15 per person, in cash, unless your trip says park fees are included.

Guest favourites

Geronimo: snorkelling, fishing and Caye Caulker

The captain we book most often, and the one guests ask for again. He does half-day fishing and conch hunting, snorkelling at Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley, afternoons on Caye Caulker, and beach barbecues where he cooks what you caught. One family came back this summer with a big snapper and fresh conch, and Delma turned both into dinner. He runs two boats and picks up from our dock.

Captain Carlitos: catamaran, chef and transfers

Our team’s pick for bigger groups and full service. Carlitos runs a small boat, a larger boat and a catamaran, can bring a private chef, and picks up and drops off at the villa. When another company cancelled on a group of our guests this summer, he took them out instead and ran them back to the mainland for their flight. Tour prices are quoted per trip; a boat from the San Pedro airstrip to the villa is $150 each way for up to three people.

Uprising Tours: deep-sea fishing

Captain Eric Henkis was born and raised in Belize and fishes out of San Pedro on a 25-foot skiff with a fighting chair and outriggers. Guests who went deep-sea fishing with him this summer came back with a cooler full of fish. His listed rates, for up to four or five people:

Fly fishing and other captains

Jimmy Tours

We have fished with Jimmy ourselves. His fly-fishing guide runs an 18-foot flats boat with a poling platform, and brings rods for bigger fish if you only pack a bonefish rod. Lunch is a sandwich or johnny cakes.

Ricky Luna

A private captain who will build a trip around what you want. Half-day snorkelling is $350 for up to four plus park fees; half-day fishing $450; a full day of snorkelling and Caye Caulker $600; fishing with a beach barbecue $650. Pickup at the villa adds $50.

Jet skis

A Secret Beach company brings jet skis to the villa’s dock: $100 for 30 minutes, $190 for an hour, two riders per ski. Our team books them.

Practical notes

The villa sits on the calm west side of the island, so boats leave from flat water at our dock. The reef side gets choppy when the wind is up; on those days a full day to Caye Caulker is smoother on a bigger boat. Guides are tipped separately from the villa team. After a fishing trip, bring the catch home and Delma will cook it.
